Dan Zenkel and Nancy LaPook Diamond, recognized as innovators and leaders in the summer camp world, joined forces in Fall 2009 to offer comprehensive consulting services for profit and not-for-profit camp owners and operators. Specializing in camp property sales and acquisitions, management and marketing, Dan and Nancy draw on their 40+ combined years of camp business experience and their passion for camp to enrich and add value to the wide array of summer and year-round program offerings.
About the Managing Partners:
Dan Zenkel is a founder and the former President and CEO of CampGroup, LLC, the country’s largest owner of for-profit summer camps. From CampGroup’s inception in 1998 through February 2009 Dan guided and oversaw the acquisition, integration and start up of CampGroup’s eleven overnight camps, two day camps and several related businesses. In 2011, he founded and currently owns and operates the Berkshire Sports Academy for Girls in Otis, MA. Dan was on the Board of the New York Section of the American Camp Association and is a past President and longtime Board Member of SCOPE, a leading camp organization that provides camp scholarships to underserved children. Dan was one of the founders of America’s Camp, which provides a free one week camp to children who have lost a parent on 9/11, and he is on the Board of the America’s Camp Foundation which operates the camp. He has presented at numerous industry conferences and has authored several articles for camp industry publications. Prior to starting CampGroup, Dan practiced law and was active in real estate development and management. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Columbia Law School.
Nancy LaPook Diamond is a founder and the former President of NicheDirectories, LLC, a full service web presence provider and Internet marketing company which published KidsCamps.com, CampJobs.com and a variety of other camp-related web sites. KidsCamps.com debuted in 1995 as the first online summer camp directory, and, along with the other assets of NicheDirectories, LLC was acquired in Summer 2009. Prior to starting KidsCamps.com, Nancy worked in television, film and theatre with numerous writing and production credits and was a member of the original launch teams of Pinwheel, Nickelodeon’s first show, and MTV. She also worked as a consultant to Microsoft, helping to develop the company’s partnership with children’s museums. Nancy served as a Board Member of SCOPE, a leading organization that provides camp scholarships to underserved children. She is a graduate of Emory University and George Washington University.
